Throughout history presidents and evil men have been identified as the Biblical antichrist (Nero, Stalin, Hitler). Because Rev. 13:18 says his number is the number of a man -- 666 -- some have been able to assign number values to names (letters) of some of these historical figures that coincidentally added up to 666! I'll pass on that exercise.

But COULD Obama be the one who is prophecied to come into world power one of these years? I would be very surprised if he was the one. Here's why:

1. The antichrist seems to arise out of a revived Roman empire (located around the Mediterranean area) according to the book of Daniel.  Obama is not from there.

2. The antichrist rejects the "God of his fathers" This phrase (or a variation of it) is found many times in the Bible, and each time it refers to the God of Israel's fathers (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) (Daniel 11:37, cp. Acts 5:30, 22:14) I don't think Obama is even part Jewish.

3. Worldwide leader will have a kingdom with ten persons serving under him or with him. The European Union is planning to go global and has already split the world into 10 areas of dominion. This fits with Daniel 7:7,20,24, Rev. 12:3, 13:1, and 17:3-16. It is only a hunch -- but I wonder if Obama might end up being one of these ten.

4. II Thess. 2:7 says there is one who HINDERS (KJV "let") the antichrist. It is generally understood that this one is the Holy Spirit IN BELIEVERS who is slowing him down. When the rapture comes (I Cor. 15:52 and I Thess. 4:16), THEN the antichrost will be "revealed". If we could be sure about this NOW, it might mean we have missed the rapture.
